Mütter Museum of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia
19 S 22nd St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19103
This month's Library pop-up celebrates Women's History Month with books relating to women physicians, women's healthcare, and women's history in medicine.
The photo is of Dr. Katharine Sturgis, who researched the danger of smoking and its direct correlation to lung cancer. Sturgis became a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia in 1951 and was elected its first woman president in 1972.
On display will also be some historical books about midwifery written by women, dating from 1760 to 1878. Check these out and then visit our latest exhibit about how curiosity about imperfect bodies led to the science of embryology: muttermuseum.org/exhibitions/imperfecta/
Entrance to this one-day-only exhibit is included with regular museum admission. Philly STAMP pass holders get in free: phillystamppass.org/
