The summer season, or Pitta according to Ayurveda is a time characterized by a hot, sharp, intense, and forceful nature. The Pitta dosha is governed by the elements of fire and water and it’s responsible for all heat, metabolism and transformation in the mind and body. It controls how we digest foods, how we metabolize our sensory perceptions, and how we discriminate between right and wrong. However, as we near the end of the season we tend to experience a build up of Pitta in the tissues and may begin to “burnout” from all of the heat. If we don’t take the time to properly detox from this season, the next season can move in full of irritability, anxiety, allergies, and colds just to name a few. Learning to gently support ourselves in this natural transition can make a huge difference in having a healthy fall/winter versus the alternative.
Ayurveda teaches us that with the change in season, we should make some changes in our lifestyle routines such as diet and movement. Join Nicole as we explore different ways to detox and release accumulated heat while preparing for the seasonal switch to the dry, windy, cool days of fall and winter. The workshop will begin with an hour asana practice and guided meditation. The last half of the workshop will include a tea sample as well as a discussion on tips, tools, and recipes to help implement these changes in to our lifestyle.
