WHAT IS IT? It’s similar to a community yard sale, but with one key difference — everything is FREE!
HOW DOES IT WORK? Bring (working!) unwanted or no-longer-used items between 10am & noon. Anyone is free to browse & take whatever they’d like — whether they brought something themselves or not. No strings attached.
People can take items at any point between 10 and 2, but we don't want a bunch of items to come right at the end, so try to have any giveaways here by noon.
NEED SOME IDEAS? Power tools you impulse bought but only used once, that juicer you got as a gift but still haven't gotten around to even opening, kids toys and clothes that are no longer age appropriate, craft supplies, furniture that doesn't quite fit, garden stuff, knick knacks, electronics (as long as they're working — we will test them upon arrival. We don't want anyone to get excited about an item and get home to find out it doesn't work.) A jug of laundry detergent you bought before realizing it's lavendar scented and you meant to buy lemon scented. An old bike that just sits there might make a neighborhood kid's year! Nothing too big or too small.
WHY? It’s a great way to clean out your basement (maybe you just read KonMari) & meet your neighbors at the same time! You might have just what your neighbor is looking for.
COULDN'T I SELL THIS STUFF INSTEAD? Of course, but have you? Sometimes it's easier to just gift something than go through the hassle of making a listing for it somewhere and responding to a bunch of emails or texts. Plus, giving feels great.
Lansdowne Buy Nothing aims to be the cup of sugar from your neighbor.
