The community’s interest in this event has been overwhelming in the best way. The Solidarity Run organizers have partnered with Victim Services Center of Montgomery County, Inc. to host this event. VSC has generously donated their time and resources, allowing us to secure the proper permits and insurance for Norristown Farm Park. VSC will offer on-site support, educational resources, and programming information the evening of our run. Please visit their table at the Solidarity Run to learn more about Montgomery County’s only rape crisis center. To learn more about VSC, or to make a donation, please visit their website today.
Victim Services Center (VSC) is a non-profit located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania that provides free and confidential comprehensive support services to crime victims, their families and significant others; prevention education and risk reduction programs, and training to the professionals who work with the victims of these crimes. All services are provided free of charge to those who request assistance.
We encourage all runners to wear teal in recognition of sexual assault awareness. No teal? No problem! VSC will have teal ribbons at their table for distribution.
On August 1st, a young woman was sexually assaulted while running at Norristown Farm Park at 10:50 AM. Our running community stands in solidarity with this woman, we are raising our voice, we are showing up, and we are speaking out in order to #stoptheviolence.
Runners, walkers, and community members are invited to join us on Wednesday, August 16th at 6:30 PM. We will gather in the park's Whitehall lot for a three-mile solidarity run and rally. Please share this event with your running crew, community groups, elected officials, and local law enforcement.
*This event is a collabrotive effort of RUN610 and Norristown Running Club and will be held rain or shine.
