Libations with Leidy: Happy Hour and Open House
Raise a glass to science at this happy hour celebrating Philly’s favorite 19th-century polymath, Joseph Leidy!
Born in September 1823, Leidy is known for his varied scientific pursuits, including paleontology, biology, and parasitology. He was also a teacher and innovator who led the Wagner’s educational programs from 1885 to 1892, during which time he also expanded our collection and organized it into the systematic display that visitors see today. Thanks in part to Leidy’s leadership, we still offer high-quality educational programs for all ages and our collection delights visitors year-round.
In Leidy’s birth month, we celebrate his accomplishments along with the Wagner’s continued dedication to educational programming for all ages. Enjoy hands-on activities in our museum and yard, such as scavenger hunts, coloring from our collections, and tours of our teaching garden, as well as light snacks and refreshments from partners such as Honeygrow and Yards Brewing Co.
This event is free to enter; for 21+ guests who want to drink, wristbands will cost $10 ($5 for students and Wagner members).
