Join us for an educational evening on how to save seeds. We will cover the three basic methods of processing seeds: dry, wet, & fermentation. The presentation will be about 10-15 minutes. This will be followed by a demonstration of all three methods. If you'd like to get your hands dirty please bring your own fruits and dried seed pods with you for processing. This last part is optional.
If you wish to participate in the hands on portion, please bring the following with you:
Any mature/ripe fruit or seed pod.
A jar or container for each different variety. Jars and containers should have lids for transportation.
Masking tape or label
Marker or pen.
A dish or cutting board.
A small serrated knife like a steak knife.
We will gladly accept any seeds that you would like to donate to the library.
Free and open to the public.
— The seed lending library will be open and available. Please stop by to borrow some seeds for your garden. There will be knowledgeable people on hand to answer questions relating to care for your seeds.
How it works:
1. You stop by during open hours to select seeds from our lending library. Availability of seeds is determined by season.
2. You submit your email address and the seeds that you borrow.
3. You are highly encouraged to return seeds to the library. After the plant has produced viable seeds we encourage you to save some for yourself and some for the library. Ask any of the staff if you need help or email us at [email protected]
