Center for Architecture and Design
1218 Arch Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19107
Dressed in our flyest 90s attire [door-knockers recommended but not required], New Voices for Reproductive Justice will be center stage at the Philadelphia Center for Architecture to bring you “Sow 90’s!” as a part of the Kinks, Locks & Twists Conference 2017. 90s hip-hop taught a lot of people the power of voice — it showed that regardless of race, gender, age, or socioeconomic status, we are all able plants seeds into each other.
An intergenerational experience, Sow 90’s! is an open mic that will make you dig out your 4-fingered ring and have you snapping in the air all night so everybody can see it! Poets, singers, MCs, dancers, and performers of all kind are welcome to hit the stage and share their talent with the crowd.
Our feature for Sow 90s! is the incomparable Sonya Renee Taylor! A world renowned poet, activist, and founder of the radical self-love movement called “The Body is Not An Apology,” Sonya is guaranteed to bring the house down and help us love ourselves along the way. Also hitting the stage, we have special performances from Philly Youth Poetry Movement and Lil King!
Join us on August 17th at 6PM while we party to music from the illest era spun by DJ Jamz.
The cost is $10 and includes all this awesomeness and snacks. Cash bar.
