On Saturday, August 26th, Aaron Elliott, a friend of Sona's and player for the Kevin Barry's GFC, originally from Clonoe, Co Tyrone, was struck by a car in jenkintown. He was left unresponsive and without a pulse, and injuries included a leak on the brain, a blood clot, a fractured skull and a collapsed lung. Thankfully, Aaron is now conscious and on the road to recovery, but he has already undergone several procedures and faces at least six weeks recovery time in the hospital a lone and then upon release he will undergo intense rehabilitation, all of which he has no health insurance to help cover the cost. The Kevin Barry’s GFC has started a fundraising campaign to cover Elliot’s rising medical costs which they estimate could reach as high as $100,000 without medical insurance. The club has also flown his family to the US to be with him during his recovery.
In support of the fundraiser, Sona will be hosting “A Day for Aaron” on Sunday September 17th. We will be donating a percentage of our sales on that day to the Aaron Elliot Benefit Fund.
To make this an extra special Sunday, Sona will have live music starting at 4pm. So make sure to share this event and invite all of your friends to come dine at Sona to help Aaron.
