Join Slought and the Men Can campaign of Lutheran Settlement House on September 25, 2017 from 6-8pm for an evening addressing some of the roots of violence in our society. Slought will be hosting a screening of Jennifer Siebel Newsom's «The Mask You Live In» (2015) a documentary about the ways that boys and men are harmed by traditional gender socialization, and the violence that is promoted by it. The Mask You Live In goes beyond just understanding this experience, and into what we can do to make a change.
Men Can is an initiative of LSH aimed at getting more men to speak out against Intimate Partner Violence. We see this violence as a learned behavior, one that can be unlearned and prevented in the future. Please come ready to not just watch the film, but to engage in a dynamic discussion about changing this culture of toxic masculinity.
