Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. cordially invites you to a Red Carpet Screening of “Marshall,” a film that is based on one of the earlier cases from Justice Thurgood Marshall’s historic legal career. While many may be familiar with Justice Marshall’s life and his significant contributions to the Civil Rights Movement, many others may not be. This screening is an opportunity for us to not only be entertained, but for us to also enrich ourselves and celebrate a piece of our history through cinema.
Advance tickets are $10 and available ONLY AT THE BOX OFFICE starting Tuesday, October 10. When making your purchase, please ask for the «7:10 p.m. show on Thursday, Oct. 12.»
Starring Chadwick Boseman, Josh Gad, Kate Hudson, Dan Stevens, Sterling K. Brown, and James Cromwell. MARSHALL is based on a true incident in the life of Thurgood Marshall when he was a young lawyer, long before his appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. As the nation teeters on the brink of World War II, a nearly bankrupt NAACP sends Marshall to conservative Connecticut to defend a black chauffeur against his wealthy socialite employer in a sexual assault and attempted murder trial that quickly becomes tabloid fodder
Justice Thurgood Marshall was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and studied law at Howard University. His celebrated legal career was marked by his landmark victory of Brown v. Board of Education in 1954 and his historic appointment to the United States Supreme Court on October 2, 1967. He served until October 1, 1991, and died January 24, 1993.
