With Greg Adams supplying vocals and rhythm guitar, Derrick Dieso on lead guitar, Austin Paragas fielding bass and backing vocals, and Henri Tyler behind the drums, these four West Philly musicians come together to create TIOGA, their unique brand of indie rock, flavored with refreshing rhythms and memorable melodies. Drawing influence from artists such as The 1975, The Killers, Two Door Cinema Club, among others, TIOGA has been likened to “early 2000’s new wave revival acts,” while also drawing from The War on Drugs, The National, and Interpol.
Queue’s debut single «Falling Into Skies» landed on Spotify’s tastemaking “Fresh Finds” playlist and was quickly lauded for its lush, moody vocals and chiming guitars by publications ranging from Drunken Werewolf to Pause Musicale. They followed with a second single, «More,» an aching ballad that Consequence of Sound called «a soft yet scintillating track teetering between dream folk and indie rock.”
Queue went on the road in support of these releases, playing shows across the east coast with Middle Kids, Twinsmith, and Tall Heights. Afterwards, the band returned to the studio, working with producer Ben Rice at Degraw Sound in Brooklyn.
The result of these sessions was “Frontier», an energetic fever dream with driving guitars and anthemic vocal melodies. This release would mark the third time the band featured on Spotify's Fresh Finds playlist and was Queue’s biggest success to date, garnering over 60,000 streams and praise from blogs like WXPN's The Key and The Revue.
In December of 2017, Queue released “Aimless Kid”, a powerful first taste of their upcoming debut EP that Indie Shuffle described as «lush waves of electric guitar and electronics, a simple concept turned into something so rich and full.»
Vanderlyle had always been a dream of lead singer Matt Fell’s since middle school. “I wanted to be a part of a collective group that got to express themselves with their art form,” Matt explained." John (guitar) and I met at college and had discussed the idea of making music together while at The Fire supporting a friend’s band. Niko (drums) was a friend from highschool that would post these amazing cover videos, and we asked him to join. Alex (bass), whom Niko and I also went to highschool with, was referred to me from a friend at work, and we thought we would give it a shot. We instantly clicked and ended up becoming Vanderlyle. We had always talked about how we felt the band needed to be a 5-piece, and immediately thought of having Kyle join us on guitar as well."
Their jangly guitar lines, synth-driven melodies, layered harmonies, and danceable rhythm unfold on their first single, “Just a Friend.” Released in September 2017, the single reached over two thousands streams across all platforms. A Facebook-exclusive music video was also released in conjunction with the single, which racked up 13,000 views and counting.
Vanderlyle took Philadelphia by storm, playing almost 2 dozen live shows in their first year in Philly and New York, and is on pace to continue a heavy show schedule in 2018 on the east coast.
The band will be releasing two follow-ups singles to «Just a Friend» in early 2018, leading up to the release of a much anticipated EP in the spring.
