Ami Yamasaki/Joe Moffett/Zach Rowden trio:

Ami Yamasaki is a vocalist and cross-media artist from Tokyo.
With primal vocals and movement, she explores the possibilities of a deeper understanding towards the mechanism of the world. In 2017 She was invited to New York by the Asian Cultural Council as a grantee.
Her major solo shows include “Signs of Voices” (2016, Kyoto Art Center, Kyoto), and group shows include “Tokyo Experimental Festival vol.09 ” (2014, Tokyo Wonder Site, Tokyo) “Exchange-planting a seed” (2013, Aomori Contemporary Art center, Aomori) and “Sonic City 2013 Liquid Architecture” (2013, RMIT, Melbourne). Her work is diverse and prolific; ranging from the collaborations with Keiji Haino, Yasunori Ikunishi, Akira Sakata, and Dairo Suga, workshops at The National Museum of Art Osaka, Arts Maebashi, and Sapporo City Kojo elementary school, as well as television appearances as a narrator and vocalist for drama.

New York-based trumpeter and improviser Joe Moffett approaches his work with a keen interest in unconventional sounds and forms, collective composition, solo instrumental performance, and the intersection of words and music. He is a regular participant in the improvised/experimental music scene in Brooklyn and is a co-founder of ensembles such as Earth Tongues, Twins of El Dorado and the Kaplan/Merega/Moffett Trio. His material appears on Neither/Nor, Underwolf, Eh?, NotTwo, and Prom Night Records.

Zach Rowden deals with the acoustic and performative possibilities of the upright/electric basses. He is a soloist in Iancu Dumitrescu and the late Ana Maria Avram’s Hyperion Ensemble. Current collaborators include Tyshawn Sorey, Paul Flaherty, Michael Foster’s The Ghost, Robert Black, Chris Cretella, Matt Sargent. Charmaine Lee and Gus Caldwell. Venues that have welcomed him include Harpa (Reykjavik), Romanian Radio Hall (Bucharest), Cafe Oto (London), Heimathafen Neukölln (Berlin), Issue Project Room (New York), Firehouse 12 (New Haven), and Real Art Ways (Hartford).

Swetha Narasimhan/Vivek Ramanan:

Swetha Narasimhan started learning violin at the age of 6 from Dr. Narayan Raman in Indianapolis. Later, she was taught by several violinists, including Shri. Purna Chander Rao, Trichy Shri. Sathyamurthy, and Smt. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi. She is currently learning from Smt. Gowri Ramakrishnan. Swetha has participated in several music festivals and won first prizes in competitions in CMANA Great Composer’s Day and the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana. She has accompanied many major Carnatic artists in and around New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Vivek Ramanan has provided accompaniment on mridangam for many Carnatic performances in the Philadelphia and Bay Areas. He has also performed in konnakol programs and was featured in two Cleveland Aradhana showcase programs in 2013 and 2014, for which he was highly commended for his konnakol skills by both Sri. Mannargudi Eashwaran and Smt. Aruna Sairam.
