Philly Punx Positive Change 2018 (a slightly different and updated version of what was done in 2014) is based in Punk/Radical/DIY ethos. This is a community that struggles with many issues and does not trust the traditional healthcare system or always know what other options and resources are available and this event hopes to help with that. As a community, we are each others responsibility. This event is a safe space to help offer understanding and foster dialogue and communication about the health, happiness, and safety of individuals and community in regards to some serious issues.
What it is:
— 1 day of workshops and trainings to better understand and deal with mental health, interpartner violence, and su...bstance use and harm reduction.
— Narcan Training and basics of crisis intervention
— A Resource Guide that puts available resources together in one easy to read place.
— A day for honest, open communication about real things
Workshops will be led by trained professionals that have punk/DIY roots. There will also be a facilitated quiet space with someone to teach some yoga, breathing, and meditation techniques.
+ 12:00-12:30: Talk about the purpose and structure of the workshops Jessie Bird
+ 12:30-1:15: Mental Health with Craig Lewis
+ 1:30-2:15: Practical approach to harm reduction between friends, partners, and the community with Leah Yarmus and Geremi
+ 2:30- 4:00: Substance Use, Narcan Training, basic Crisis Skills with Megan Abrams and Grazi
Instead of having our own show we want everyone to go checkout Break Free Fest II at the Rotunda! facebook.com/events/210874946131215/
The bands initially scheduled for the workshops will be rescheduled for a later time.
This event is free! Bring yourself and be respectful.
