Before Hollywood: Philadelphia and the Birth of the Movies, a film by Andrew Ferrett, tells the story of the city as the cradle of motion pictures and the place where movies literally and metaphorically took their first steps. As the nation's manufacturing capital in the 19th century, Philadelphia was the crossroads where artists, engineers and amateur inventors realized the dream of transforming still images into those that moved.
Carrie Rickey, the film's producer, and director Andrew Ferrett will introduce the movie. After the showing, they'll discuss the film further.
Join History Making Productions for this free screening in the Skyline Room of the Free Library on May 21st.
