WHAT IS THE EVENT?
This is an open-to-the-public, alcohol-free potluck brunch & fundraiser hosted at William Way LGBT Community Center. Feel free to come late and/or leave early! Bring your friends!
This month we are raising money for Morris Home, which was attacked on June 23rd, 2018. Thankfully no one was hurt, but it’s important to show our support! Info about the attack: http://planettransgender.com/philly-transgender-group-home-fire-bombed/?cn-reloaded=1
Information about Morris Home from their website (https://rhd.org/MorrisHome/
): Morris Home supports trans and gender variant individuals as they develop the knowledge, skills and supports necessary to promote sobriety, manage emotional and behavioral difficulties, choose and maintain safe and healthy lifestyles, and develop healthy relationships with peers, family and the community. Morris Home provides a safe, recovery-oriented environment for individuals in transition from one gender to another, or those with other gender variants who may be coming from “the streets” and/or from shelter programs.
If you are able, please donate $5-$20! You can bring cash to brunch, or you can donate online here: https://rhd.org/support-our-work/
. If you donate online, please let us know so that we can thank you and keep track of how much we raised together!
We will also have supplies to write letters to elected representatives! We invite everyone to write their elected representatives and tell them to #abolishICE
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
We want everyone to feel welcome even if they cannot afford to bring anything. However, if you are able, we encourage you to bring a dish or drink to share, and a cash donation of $5-$20 for Morris Home! Please note that this is a NO-ALCOHOL event!
EVERYONE is welcome at PQB! We focus on creating a safe and welcoming space for queer and trans women and non-binary folks, especially those of color, but we invite ALL folks to come join us. This is an all ages event!
WHAT IF I DON’T KNOW ANYONE?
That’s totally okay!!! We work to make this a friendly and welcoming space. When the event gets closer, we’ll designate a greeter that you can reach out to ahead of the event in case you need a friendly face. We’ll also have them hang out by the front door during the event, to welcome you in!

William Way is a wheelchair-accessible building. We’ll be gathering in the Ballroom, which is on the second floor. There are stairs and also an elevator. We’ll have plenty of seating and tables. All gender restrooms are available. Buses 4, 27, and 32 are about 400 feet away (about a block). The 40, 45, and 12 bus lines are 0.1 miles away (about 2 blocks). The Walnut-Locust Broad Street Line is 0.2 miles away. The 13th Street Market Frankford Line and Juniper/13th Street Trolley Station are 0.4 miles away.
We are committed to working with folks to make appropriate mobility and other accessibility accommodations, and are ALWAYS looking for other accessible spaces in Philadelphia to host our monthly events.
Please contact us at [email protected]
if you have questions, or suggestions of locations to host, or organizations that could use our support!
